Working from home can be challenging! There is no real glitz and glamour in rolling from the bed to chair and opening up the laptop. There’s no magic curtain that separates work and home life but instead, a constant whirlwind that can either blow everything in its path or move everything to flow swiftly.
Keep in mind, EVERY tip here may not apply to your situation or may look different for you. Having these tips as a foundation for what day-to-day life looks like working from home is what counts. Let’s take a look!
Tip #1 SET YOUR ALARM
Sound silly? Too simple? This easy task can be the make-it or break-it of your job! Wanting to wake earlier or “get on schedule” won’t work unless you show up. SET THE ALARM.
Tip #2 MAKE A SCHEDULE
Having a schedule planned out ahead of time will allow for better work productivity
TIP #3 TAKE A BREAK
When you are at home it’s easy to get wrapped up in a task or five and forget to pause but this is key for long-term success at home.
TIP #4 DRINK WATER
Like the last tip, simple, but important. STAY HYDRATED (we love lemon water for the morning and afternoon).

TIP #5 PLAN YOUR MEALS
This includes SNACKS. Have hummus, veggies, fruit bowls, or smoothie ingredients pre-packed and ready to grab so you aren’t tempted to grab a heavier meal or go so long you can’t think straight.
TIP #6 SET A TIMER
This is AFTER you set your alarm and have a routine. During your day, use a timer app or desktop timer to set aside specific time for each task. Make a list with blocked out time in order of priority and then set the timer and go. You will be surprised how much you can get done in even the shortest of time with this habit.
TIP #7 DESIGNATE A WORKSPACE
Working in bed is really fun the first one or two times but anything more and you are really risking a sluggish day and sloppy work. Designating a space you love (even a tiny corner of space or standing desk) makes a huge difference and gives you a sense of accomplishment to have a place that’s all your own. TIP #8 SIT UP STRAIGHT

TIP #9 GO TO BED
It’s easy to get caught up in telling yourself you can hit snooze tomorrow and enjoy a show or five but resist! You will screw up so many of the above tips and create a habit that’s hard to break. Instead, look forward to your off day(s) and treat them like you would away from a home office.
TIP #10 GIVE GRACE
It’s really a LEARNING PROCESS to come up with the perfect workspace and routine for your unique situation and needs. Give yourself the grace to make a few mistakes and be flexible so you can figure out what works best. Take notes! Pay attention to what is and isn’t productive! Enjoy the process!
