It’s Getting Hot In Here: 6 Make-Up Tips for Summer

6 Tips for Summer Make-Up Routine

HEY Y’ALL!

It’s already feeling like summer here in Texas which made me think about the “h” word (humidity) and high temps, and how that changes my make-up routine. Here are 6 easy make-up tips to try out that will leave you with more time to look for that perfect summer swimsuit!

1. MIX IT UP

Don’t worry, this won’t be hard or require major creativity. Just a good moisturizer and your favorite mineral powder. You don’t want your whole face smearing off as you step outside, so focus on tinting or concealing where you need. Place a small amount of your favorite moisturizer into the palm of your hand and then top with your mineral powder. Blend together and apply as needed. Yes, you can do this in a longer, slower process with a brush but we don’t have time for that! Just play around with the powder amount until you’re happy with it and realize that a few touch-ups in the day will be much better than a “heavy duty” or “all day” wear product.

2. EYE SCREAM

We aren’t talking about the cold stuff here. No, we are talking about the nightmare that is eye creams and heavy shadow in the summer! It’s messier than an ice cream cone down the boardwalk! Seriously! If you have to test the limits, opt for finding a waterproof/water resistant eye shadow, but don’t say we didn’t warn you. We know you want those big, beautiful eyes to make a statement, so let’s move along to tip #3.

3. BAT THOSE LASHES
If you’re feeling a bit “naked” without the eyeliners and eye shadows this ones for you! Waterproof Mascara. Depending on which one you choose, you may have to apply more than one layer so be sure you wait in between. Waterproof mascara can clump and get heavy so give yourself a little time in-between applications.

4. LIP SERVICE

Lips get sooooo overlooked in the summer! We often associate chapstick or cracked lips with cold, winter months but the truth is, the heat dries them out like a prune! We love a good, moisturizing chapstick first. Then, apply a chunky lipstick crayon or lip stain. And don’t forget when you’re showering off all that sand or pool water, give your lips a good rinse and scrub and apply more chapstick before bed to keep them looking and feeling their best.

5. YOUR BLUSHING

If the thought of not having a bronzer, contour, or pronounced cheekbones makes you cringe, get your blush on! We find that water-resistant blush tends to stay on and wear better than the bronzers. And, something light without shimmer will match your already lighter look. There are blush sticks that function as a lipstick or eye shadow too which can be super fun, and super easy to make more room for the beach towel and sunglasses you’re throwing in that bag.

6. DRINK UP, BUTTERCUP

While we always promote lots of water consumption, we actually mean your face! And while it may sound like the opposite thing you want to do when you’re already sweating, here me out! Much like a setting spray, water can give you that dewy glow you love. This is especially helpful if you are going to be outside for extended periods of time. We love rosewater and a little splash of witch hazel or rose water and a few drops of lavender in a spray bottle. Shake and hold far enough back from your face that it’s just giving a light mist. BONUS TIP: Keep the spray bottle nearby and use as an after-sun skincare routine. Shower and spray all over to hydrate and soothe from your big day. If you’re looking for a HUGE WATER BOTTLE, this one is awesome! And, if you’re on the go and want a strap, this fits the gallon sizes! HERE.
